The site remains closed to the public whilst the conservation works commence on the boats and plans for the redevelopment of the site are progressed. Last year we had a few open days which were very popular, we would like to offer you the opportunity to visit the site and see the collection in storage and to find out more about the boats and their conservation. You will have a guided tour of the collection, and a talk about the project and our plans for the future. Adrian Stone, Conservation Workshop Manager will also give a brief talk in the workshop about the conservation and restoration of the collection.
Our facilities are extremely limited. We recommend you wrap up warm as even on sunny days the buildings remain fairly chilly. There are no catering facilities at the Steamboat Museum but you could always tie in your visit with a trip to Blackwell for tea and a scone!
As we are in the midst of developing the project our resources are very limited and so we are only able to offer a small number of visits at this time. It is therefore advisable that you ring to check the availability for your preferred date. We will then provisionally book that date for you until you send in this booking form.
If you are a UK tax payer willing to ‘Gift Aid’ your admission with a 10% voluntary donation, then this will allow us to claim an additional 25p on every pound you pay. The money we raise from Gift Aid makes a valuable difference to our work.
